On June 18, 2025, a representative of Vlasta-Consulting visited the Russian Customs Academy in Lyubertsy, where the 15th meeting of the Working Group on Intellectual Property Rights Protection under the Subcommittee on Customs Cooperation of the Russian-Chinese Commission for Preparing Regular Meetings of the Heads of Governments took place. The event brought together experts and representatives of customs authorities from Russia and China to discuss key issues related to cooperation within the framework of the bilateral commission.
During the meeting, issues concerning interaction between Russian and Chinese customs authorities were discussed. It was noted that for an effective fight against counterfeiting and illegal shipments, it is crucial for brands to register their trademarks in the TRoIS system both in Russia and China. If a brand is registered only in one of these countries, it significantly complicates full cooperation between customs services and hampers efforts to combat counterfeiting at the international level.
In this regard, the participants urged the business community to register their trademarks in the TRoIS system in both countries. Such an approach will enable Russian and Chinese customs authorities not only to communicate and exchange signals about suspicious shipments but also to take prompt action to prevent them. Ultimately, this will enhance the effectiveness of measures against counterfeit supplies and protect rights holders' interests at the international level.
